I am a postdoctoral research scientist in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University in Sanat Kumar's research group. My current research focuses on using computer simulations and data science to study nanocomposite membranes. I earned my PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, advised by Hank Ashbaugh at Tulane University.
Shortly before that I worked for a construction materials testing company, testing materials that went into the rebuilding of the New Orleans levee system. When I was in New Orleans I also received an MDiv from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I received my BS in Mechanical Engineering at Mississippi State University.
I go by a shortened version of my middle name, Wes. My publications are published under "J. W. Barnett" or "J. Wesley Barnett."
